Clinical Immersion Program
A Global Maternal Health Exchange
A professional exchange rooted in relationship, respect, and real impact.
Wombs of the World Foundation invites experienced maternal health professionals to participate in our Clinical Immersion Program in northern Tanzania. This is not a volunteer trip. It is a meaningful, long-term exchange designed to strengthen maternal and newborn care through collaboration, cultural humility, and shared learning.
Participants join us as colleagues, mentors, and global partners in improving birth outcomes and supporting the dedicated teams serving mothers and babies every day.
Applications are now open for 2026 placements.

A Transformational Opportunity for Maternal Health
Since 2018, Wombs of the World has been working in close relationship with maternity clinics in northern Tanzania.
These partnerships are rooted in trust, continuity, and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for mothers and newborns.
Our partner clinics have consistently shared one core request: More hands. More knowledge exchange. More mentorship.
The Clinical Immersion Program was created in response.
This program offers experienced professionals the opportunity to spend extended time embedded within local clinical environments, engaging in a dynamic two-way exchange of skills, perspective, and care philosophies.
Participants not only support clinical teams. They become part of a growing global network working toward respectful, evidence-based, and culturally grounded maternal healthcare.
What Makes This Program Different
Many international “medical missions” focus on short-term service delivery.
Our approach is different.
We focus on relationship-driven, sustainable exchange.
Deep Community Relationships
We have worked alongside our partner clinics since 2018, ensuring that all placements are welcomed, ethical, and collaborative.
Two-Way Knowledge Exchange
Participants share their expertise while learning from local midwives, nurses, and physicians whose experience and resilience offer invaluable insight.
Focus on Sustainability
Rather than temporary intervention, this program strengthens long-term systems through training, mentorship, and resource mobilization.
Cultural Integration
Participants engage with the broader community through home visits, shared meals, and meaningful cultural exchange that deepens understanding of birth and family life in Tanzania.
